The client is a British author (poetry, fiction and non-fiction) who wanted a site to showcase her work, and one that would look “quality and serious, but with approachability”. Her writing ranges from scholarly writing on the state of humanity and the planet to lyrical poetry and a libretto for a large-scale choral work.
We met the challenge of this variety of work by giving the site a background image of pale, gentle melting ice—supporting her artistic writing as well as echoing the subject matter of some of her her non-fiction writing (environmental sustainability). The website included sample poems, downloads and reviews as well as updates on the author’s career.
The result is a website imbued with both personality and seriousness; a flavorful introduction to both the author and her work.
