We design for animators and we also use animation for website design. Our preference for using animation in web design is to use animated SVGs and/or css-generated animation to keep page-speed from being compromised. We’re also careful to limit the use of animation to selected situations where the delight is worth it.

A technique we’ve used often is to create an animation from multiple sources that can continue indefinitely without ever repeating exactly. The fireside animation is an example of an SVG animation that does this. We’ve also used multiple image carousels to create ongoing banner interest loops that never repeat and in the distant past we made Flash websites with this same infinite variation.
