Every website we build is custom, so we don’t have set packages or fixed prices. The figures below are intended as useful guidelines: the final cost depends on the structure, functionality, design, content and archival tools your particular project needs.
PRICING FOR ART WEBSITES AND ART ARCHIVE WEBSITES
A simple 4-section art website with basic art archival capacity starts at around $3,500. At around that level, a project would typically include: a homepage designed around your work, an archive of your artworks with whatever level of categorization you use, an about section, a contact page, and a set of private archival record-keeping fields. The database behind our art archive websites is structured for advanced functionality from the start, so most of the fields the advanced archival tools will rely on are already available to you for private record-keeping, and adding the tools later is an extension rather than a rebuild.
Most initial builds fall between $3,500 and $5,500, depending on how many kinds of additional records you want to keep and display on the website (eg exhibitions, publications, press), how highly customized you would like the design, and how much of the content preparation and upload you would like handled for you.
A website with advanced archival and art-management tools (for the options and a working example, view the art archiving page) runs to around $6,500-$12,500 for most individuals (depending on their selection of features and tools) and $12,000-$18,000 for galleries and large collections. The tools can go into the initial build, or be added over several years as you need them, with the cost spread accordingly.
What You Own
With or without archival tools, a website we design and build is paid for as the work is done and is yours at the end—the design, the content, the database and the code. After that the ongoing costs are the standard annual domain registration and hosting fees (typically $130-$250 a year) plus backups and maintenance (which you can do yourself, hire us for, or give to anyone you choose). No forever platform subscription fee.
For Comparison
A leading art archiving platform that includes a professional website (others don’t) and holds enough work for a mature artist’s output costs around $3,800 a year, every year—roughly $19,000 every five years. Gallery platforms run to about $4,850 a year on their published prices, with the top tier priced on request. Less expensive plans exist but they cap the number of works you can hold, so an archive that keeps growing arrives at the top tier eventually. (Published prices, checked September 2026. We can name the platform if you want—just ask.)
DIY website builders cost less to start but include no archival structure or tools.
PRICING FOR NON-ART WEBSITES
A custom-designed 5-section website for one-person businesses starts around $4,500. Items that increase the cost include: additional pages, complex pages and/or footers, branding, creation of graphics and other content, and SEO work.
A custom-designed website for a small organization (eg nonprofits) can start around $9,500 for a website without private backend database functionality. Pricing for private internal database and tools development is determined by consultation.
E-COMMERCE
Adding a full e-commerce set-up to any of the above types of websites starts at an additional cost of $2,500.
PROPOSALS AND QUOTATIONS
Before we quote, we spend an hour with you at no charge, working out exactly what you need. You then get a full proposal with a fixed price for the agreed scope.
PAYMENTS
A deposit of one third starts the work, a second third falls at an agreed milestone partway through, and the balance is due before your website is published. Longer projects are split into four.
