What Is A Content Management System?

A website with a content management system is one in which content and structure are completely separate and you can update your own content via a web interface without any special webmaster skills.

The content of your website (that’s all your texts, images, movies, audio files, and pdfs) is all uploaded by you into a mySQL database using an interface that's as easy to use as any web form. You can add, edit, archive or delete material whenever you need to.

A content management system takes more work to set up and integrate with the website design but once it is in place, it will dynamically generate your pages for you as you add new content.

For large and/or frequently-updated websites, it is considerably more efficient than developing your website in static html pages and it is especially great for websites that have many pages using essentially the same layout.
